Although I am giving this establishment a 2 star rating I chose this facility over VBMC. But it was choosing the lesser of two evils. I had my mother stay at HMC last year and the care was much better before. This time I had a hard time getting any information from the staff on my mother's diagnosis and prognosis. The hospital is understaffed, overworked, and there wasn't a doctor around each time I visited her. I'm beginning to think this hospital is run without doctors. While there are some good nurses (Dulce on 3rd floor was very good) there wasn't very many of them. Housekeeping was very poor here. I would find wrappers from alcohol wipes and trash on my mother's bed instead of thrown in the trash can. Food trays are left in the room for a while too. The nurse even asked for my help to move my mom at one point because she could do it by herself just to shift her to sit up in bed! And another had a hard time finding her veins to run the IV. I have witnessed the humanity decline in hospitals and the staff have dealt with death so much they seem unfazed by it. I feel sorry for the ones staying here and afraid that I may stay here one day.

I do not recommend for labor and delivery. Multiple reasons. Go to Valley Baptist. Update as a response to reply: No, I’ve already given y’all multiple opportunities to address my concerns... “sorry for the inconvenience.” This statement tells me that you have no idea of my circumstances, despite me contacting y’all a month prior to my due date and me following up with y’all over two months after my delivery. Therefore, a blanket statement of contact someone else does not help. I will also add to my review: This hospital was labeled as a preferred location by my insurance. I would still advise going to Valley Baptist if you are planning to deliver in Harlingen.

If you're admitted as an emergency they will put you in the covid area until you get 2 tests done. 1 rapid test (which is pointless) and another that can take up to 5 days to get the result before the move you from that area. Ridiculous system.

The best hospital ever an I would never had found out all my diagnosis if it had not been for the doctors and nurses. God bless them.

The entire Aldape family wants to thank everyone there for caring for our mom these past few days. My mom mentioned three in particular Victoria, Mary and Rudy (house director). We are grateful for making her feel comfortable and at ease last night. You all have taken the worry from us and we appreciate all of your help and support. God willing she will be released later on today. Again, thank you and God bless you for all of your unselfish sacrifice you demonstrate everyday.
